Turkey Fun Facts

I just thought, in honor of Thanksgiving, I post some fun facts about turkeys.
  • Turkeys can adapt to many habitats, but most are found in wooded places with grassy areas
  • The times you are most likely to see a turkey are on warm clear days or in a light rain
  • Turkeys have heart attacks
  • Turkeys can drown if they look up while it's raining
  • Turkeys sleep in trees
  • Turkeys fly to the ground at first light and feed until mid-morning
  • Gobbling starts before sunrise and can continue during most of the morning
  • Wild turkeys have very good hearing and sight
  • When a turkey gets spooked, they can run up to 20 miles per hour
  • Benjamin Franklin wanted the national bird to be the turkey
So later, when you're sitting at the table with your family, remembering the things you're thankful for, remember to include the fact that Benjamin Franklin did not get want he wanted.

Happy Thanksgiving!

What are you going to do before you finish that Stride Gum?

Hope that it goes all the way through my dog!

I was doing the dishes after dinner tonight, and when I walked into my room, a WHOLE PACK of my gum was torn up on my bed (well, it was half)! That is the last time I leave my open purse on my bed!

Pray for my dog please! Thanks! [=

And This, Children, Is Why We Don't Do Drugs...

My brother Jake is interning at a video production company here in our town. Yesterday, he went somewhere with the guy who owns the place and another guy went with them (I forgot where they went or what they were doing).

They were at a public place, taking video shots for something when a man comes up to them. This guy was obviously on drugs, his eyes were red and he was just acting like a weird-o, but he seemed genially interested in what the guys were going. He kept asking questions like, "What are you doing?" "What's this about?" "Is this a big production?" The other guy that was with my brother and his boss (I guess what you would call him) was African-American, and the high-guy then started asking, "Are you a boxer?" and rambling on about boxers he knew about. And for piece de resistance, he started talking about another "medication" he used before pot, then switched to pot. He expressed how his psychiatrist saw a difference in him and to keep taking pot.

And this, children, is why we don't do drugs.

Grab Some Popcorn

It's a rainy day, there is nothing to do, and you are completely board. Well, instead of picking on your younger sibling (like my brothers do to me when they're bored) here are some movies you could watch curling under a nice warm blanket with some popcorn on your lap:

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
(1954...rated G)
If you have not seen this movie, you need to. A friend of mine told me I just had to see it. I will admit, I dragged my feet about it, but I watched it with her and loved it! It is amazing. I got this movie from Netflix just a bit ago. When I sat down to watch it, I was wondering why I hadn't ordered it sooner! I was cracking up the whole time, sighing at the romantic parts, and everything else. It truly is an awesome movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003...rated PG-13)
When this movie first came out, I was so scared to watch it (call me a chicken)! I never was one to like the skeletons and those sort of things, but my parents wanted me to watch it with the family when it came out on DVD. I couldn't sleep that night. But it later became a major favorite of mine! I love reading about pirates and in that time zone, so that was great!

Enchanted (2007...rated PG)
The mere story of a fairytale princess getting trapped in the real world instantly had be hooked! It is such a cute movie. And, though he probably wouldn't admit it, I think my dad liked it a little and thought it sort of funny!

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
(2002...rated PG)
I've always loved a good romantic comedy. I think they exaggerated about Greek people in this one, but it is so funny! About a woman who thinks her life is going no where, her family won't leave her alone about getting married...It is just one of my favorites!

The Phantom of the Opera (2004...rated PG-13)
Ever in the mood for a movie that you want to hide your face behind a pillow, but you don't necessarily like scary? Phantom is just creepy enough to make you want to do that. It isn't scary, just suspenseful. It has about everything: music, romance, suspense...You get the idea.

That isn't even near all my favorites, but those are some movies I wanted to share with you. If you liked this post, leave me a comment. Or don't...It's up to you!

YEA!

Remember when I posted about my brother's band (check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/bgb91) was possibly going to be playing with Ayiesha Woods on the 19th of December? And then when I posted the next day saying that they didn't get the gig? Well, yesterday they found out that they did, in fact, get it. So they are going to be playing with the famous Christian singer, Ayiesha Woods! YEA!
